Stefano Pioli admitted Inter were superior in the first half but praised Milan’s reaction after his side’s 2-0 defeat in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

Stefano Pioli spoke of better Inter in the first half and Milan in the second, but claimed his players reacted well to the two goals conceded in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final and he hopes they can do the same in the Champions League semi-final will do next game.

“Inter played better in the first half and scored two goals. We played well in the second half and didn’t score a goal. This is football at this level. Inter had more quality in the first half. We lost the ball one many times”, he told Prime Video.

“Inter weren’t in our penalty area until the 7th minute, then they scored a goal from the first corner. We definitely had to be more careful and prepared, especially with the second goal. I’m sorry because we wanted a different performance and result, but we have to believe in it because games can still be turned. We’ll try to do better in the second game.”

“The goal was to be a solid team with intensity and aggressiveness. I think Inter were brilliant on second balls and contested balls and won them. They were good enough and scored two goals. From there the game got complicated both tactically and psychologically. Then I saw a great reaction and we have to do that in the second game.”
