Champions League
The teams that qualified for the Champions League groups and the capacity groups
Manchester United became the 19th team to qualify for the group stage of the next Champions League and will be placed in the 2nd capacity group. The balance sheets formed so far.
Manchester United defeated Chelsea to secure their place in the next Champions League groups. The Red Devils became the 19th team with a seat in the top club competition, with seven yet to qualify directly.
The English are placed in the 2nd capacity group due to their high coefficient (103,000), which would normally send them into the 1st group were it not for the restriction imposed by UEFA for years.
The 1st capacity group is made up of the defending champions of the Champions League and Europa League, with the remaining places being occupied by the champions of the top countries in the UEFA rankings. Thus, Manchester City is found for England, Barcelona for Spain, Napoli for Italy, regardless of the coefficient.
Paris, one from Dortmund or Bayern, one from Benfica or Porto and one from Sevilla or Roma from the Europa League are also expected to book a spot in the coming days. Should Inter qualify for the Champions League via the top 4 in Serie A, the ticket for this year’s holders goes to Feyenoord as Dutch champions.
In the 2nd capacity group you will find United as well as Real and Atlético from Spain as well as the German runners-up (either Bayern or Dortmund). Leipzig and Arsenal will most likely be in the same group, as will Portugal’s second team (either Benfica or Porto).
In the 3rd capacity group, Lazio Roma and Red Star are guaranteed a place, with Salzburg and Milan also having a good chance of being here.
In the 4th capacity group you will definitely find the 4th Bundesliga team (Union or Freiburg) and probably several of the qualifiers.
