European cups passed into the hands of Spanish clubs that have never lost a final European Cups since 2001.

During this time, Spain’s representatives beat clubs from other countries 18 times in a row without a single defeat (8 Champions League finals and 10 Europa League finals).

At the same time, several more Spanish clubs’ derbies were played during this period.

In 2001, Spaniard Alaves lost to Liverpool in the Champions League final and Valencia lost to Bayern in the decisive match of the Champions League. Since then, no Spanish club has lost to teams from other countries in the finals.
