Guardiola: “In prehistory, today and in 100,000 years, it’s difficult to attack 5-5-0”
Commenting on Diego Simeone’s 5-5-0 formation, Pep Guardiola made it clear that it is never possible to attack against such a formation.
Diego Simeone went to the Etihad on Tuesday night (5/4) to put Pep Guardiola and Manchester City in a difficult position and he succeeded but couldn’t escape defeat.
Atletico faced the Citizens in a 5-5-0 formation, playing only defence, but Kevin de Bruyne found his way to the net and scored the only goal of the game that gave his team the win.
Guardiola naturally commented on the system Simeone had chosen to set up the ‘Rochiblancos’, stressing that it was impossible for a team to attack and create chances.
“Very tight game, very difficult. We managed to save them, we didn’t take chances, we were patient and we scored the goal in a collaboration between Fontaine and Kevin
We had the feeling that they would play 5-3-2, then they adjusted to 5-5-0. In prehistory, today and in 100,000 years, it is very difficult to attack with such a system because there are no spaces.
It’s a matter of patience. I told them at half-time that we were fine. The game broke in the second half and I already have a feeling it will be a game similar to Madrid.
