Jovanovic: “We were very good in the second half, we have a difficult task ahead of us in France”
Commenting on the Greens’ performance against Marseille, Ivan Jovanovic pointed out that Panathinaikos will have a difficult task in France.
Panathinaikos defeated Marseille 1-0 to advance to the Champions League playoffs. Ivan Jovanovic was completely satisfied with the performance of his players in the second half.
At the same time, however, he pointed out that the Greens will have a difficult task in the second game due to the quality of the French team.
First of all, the Panathinaikos coach emphasized: “We don’t have many chances. To have any hope of qualifying we had to score, we had to win. That was a normal result with the image of both teams.”
A difficult game in France is still waiting for us. We have 90 minutes left against a very good side in a difficult place and we need to make a big effort to get to the next stage.”
On his starting line-up selection and the fact that his team showed confidence: “Having worked with these guys for two years, I know sometimes that’s just what we lack. We are in a large group and we all understand that potential failures can be difficult for us.”
Today we were very good in the second half. We were also on the first lap, but we missed the last try. In the second we completely controlled the game.
Don’t let my initial decisions surprise you. I work with them every day and I know the effort they put in. For me today’s performance, despite the changes, was a natural progression.”
