Champions League
These are the final groups in Champions League history
The last Champions League group stage draw featured a death group with four teams battling to qualify and a group featuring Bayern and Manchester United.
The final draw for the Champions League groups took place on Thursday in the usual atmosphere at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo.
The draw this time was…nice and didn’t put many big teams in the same groups, but there won’t be a shortage of big derbies. The ‘death group’ for this year appears to be 6th where Paris, Dortmund and Milan are the largest group from the 3rd capacity group.
But the greatest pairing seems to be Bayern and Manchester United in Group 1, with Harry Kane close to the ‘Red Devils’ but ultimately leaving Tottenham for Bayern.
European champions Manchester City may not have a giant with them, but they do have Leipzig and the Red Star. Last year’s finalists will battle Benfica and Salzburg for qualification.
It should be remembered that this draw is the last one, since the system of a group of 36 teams will be applied from the new season.
