The player who received the cross for Antwerp and then scored the opening goal against AEK at the OPAP Arena was left out of the Champions League squad due to a mistake, according to Marc van Bommel.

Antwerp begins its duties in the Champions League groups next week. Sam Vines will be absent from these six games.

The 24-year-old American full-back is injured and everyone believed that was the reason he was left off the list for Europe’s top club competition. However, Mark van Bommel explained that it was a mistake.

“We have made an administrative error that cannot be corrected. Everyone wants to be on the list, but they are disappointed. Sam is recovering now but he will be ready before the end of the group stage.” The Belgian coach mentioned this explicitly.

We remind you that Vines executed the buddy and fed him Michel Ange Baliquisa, who returned to Kirk to help Antwerp beat AEK 1-0 in the second leg of the Champions League playoffs.
