Morata: ‘Barcelona wouldn’t have won the Champions League in 2015 if there had been a VAR’
Referring to the Champions League final that Juventus lost 3-1 to Barcelona in 2015, Alvaro Morata stressed that Luis Enrique’s team would not have won the Heavyweight Cup had there been a VAR.
It was June 6, 2015 when Barcelona added another Champions League to their collection, beating Juventus 3-1 in the final in Berlin.
The Catalans were better and fair trebles, becoming (then) the first team in history to manage to win a league, cup and European cup for the second time in one year (first treble in 2009).
However, all of this would not have happened if there had been a VAR in the grand finals, according to Alvaro Morata. In an interview with DAZN, the 29-year-old referred to the final of the 2014/15 season clear that Luis Enrique’s team would have lost the trophy with the help of technology:
“I always thought that with VAR we would have a penalty and Juventus would have another Champions League in the collection, but that’s life.”
He then referred to his future in Turin: “At Juventus you risk your future in every game. Everyone wants to play here. It’s normal to be judged, I do everything I can to win and I’m fine here. This year we have two or three mini-seasons in one lived. We did that.” recovered.
We have made a leap as a team and can look to the future with optimism. They don’t have to complain about the missed chances, just focus on the job and reach another Coppa Italia final. “There are many champions who haven’t won an Italian Cup or Super Cup yet.”
