Who’s that? Barcelona observers examined the player in the Antwerp – Shakhtar match
Spanish champions Barcelona are closely monitoring the development of 18-year-old Antwerp midfielder Arthur Vermeeren.
Blaugranas’ observers were also present in the match between Antwerp and Shakhtar in the second round of the Champions League group stage (2:3) and their number 1 target was Vermeeren.
The young Belgian made two assists in the match against the Pitmen and the Barcelona management really likes him, but the Catalan club has not yet taken any steps to reach an agreement on his transfer with Antwerp.
Barcelona believe that if the opportunity to sign Vermeeren for an acceptable sum arises, they should be ready to take advantage of it immediately.
It is noteworthy that Vermeeren is the second Belgian in Champions League history to make two assists in one match. The first of these is current Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.
Previously, the media had written that Manchester United scouts intend to watch Vermehren in the match against Shakhtar.
