Shakhtar – Barcelona 1-0: Sican’s goal slowed down the Catalans
Shakhtar showed pulse and beat Barcelona 1-0 on matchday 4 of the 8th group of the Champions League, with the consequence of getting back into the qualifying game, which the Catalans were denied for the time being.
Barcelona were looking for 4/4 to advance, mathematically from him 8th group the Champions League. Instead, she suffered her first defeat of the year 1:0 her Shakhtar brought the Ukrainians back to the knockout round.
The Catalans had a loss but a good performance against Real and a win but a poor performance against Real Sociedad. Xavi used Robert Lewandowski from the start and kept Joao Cancelo at right-back after experimenting with the Portuguese at right-winger.
However, the Ukrainians had prepared for all eventualities, playing mainly from the back and looking for space behind Barcelona. Circulating the ball was the exclusive prerogative of the away team (the game was played in Hamburg), but they struggled to get a final try, let alone one with claims.
In the 40th minute, a quick development by the Ukrainians after Giorgi Sudakov’s magical 50-meter ball led to Giorgi Goholeishvili following a cross from the right and Danilo Sikan making it 1-0 with a header.
The second half began with the Spanish champions having the upper hand, but in the crucial moments Shakhtar’s side were back in front through counter-attacks. Xavi made four substitutions after an hour: Lamine Yamal, Joao Felix, Pedri and Alejandro Balde scored the desired goal.
The 16-year-old Yamal was Barcelona’s most dangerous player, but at no point did he manage to cause Dmytro Ryznik trouble for long periods of time. It was 1-0 until the end, and even Shakhtar found the back of the net again. But the goal shouldn’t count because of offside.

Guardiola: In football you will be able to perform better in the future
Earlier, English Manchester City played a match against French Monaco in a new round of the UEFA Champions League.
After the match, the head coach of the “Locals” Pep Guardiola commented on the performance of the powerful team.
“In football you can always perform better – and this is the result. Our game today was very good in many ways. And step by step we will improve our results.”
Ale mi gave many speeches today in the right way. We created many scoring opportunities and found Phil Foden active in the first half. Most Gravians played at a fairly high level.
Previously, they did not let their opponents create anything, but created the chances themselves. We adapted very well to the superniks and played very well. This is my opinion.
If you get a good match on the right side, of course you have to… Today we got a great ball, that’s all I can tell you right away.
Holland? It’s really good. He plays to score goals. He struggled with three centre-backs and two supporting defenders in front of him, and it wasn’t easy for his partners to know that. Ale, we can work hard to score goals.
Tse bula spravdi garna gra. We created a lot of chances, but unfortunately in the end we didn’t defend perfectly against a free kick, which would have been quite a few, and we conceded a penalty, which was awarded when the ball hit the first one… well, that’s it.
Referee? “I have nothing to say to the Spanish referees,” said the Spanish footballer.
In the coming round, English Manchester City will visit Spanish Villarreal.
