Silva: “We could have scored more goals, but that’s football”
Bernardo Silva stressed that City’s friends should be proud of their side’s performance against Real, while Phil Fontaine focused on the meringue’s ability to punish City’s mistakes.
Manchester City were better against Real Madrid for most of the first leg of the Champions League semifinals, but failed to score more than one goal before the second leg in Madrid, with Bernardo Silva still standing in the big picture his side took on grass.
“We were very good in the first 20 minutes. In the 90 minutes we felt that with a bigger result we could get the win.
However, we couldn’t keep the advantage of the two goals that we had three times. But this is the Champions League and the record remains good for us, we scored a goal more than them.
Our fans should be proud of us. “It’s true that we could have scored more goals, but that’s football.” City’s goalscorer underscored, with Fontaine, the goalscorer of the 3-1 win for the English champions, pointing out:
“For the people watching the game on TV, it was a fun game. But we played against a team that has won the Champions League many times.
We know that if we lose the ball in dangerous areas we will be penalized and we need to work on that going into the second game. We still have matches! “But we have to seize the opportunity.”
