Lazio 2-0 Celtic: Gunner Immobile sent them one step away from the last 16

Ciro Immobile came on as a substitute in the 61st minute and made the difference for Lazio against Celtic. The Italian striker scored twice in the final quarter to secure a 2-0 win that took the Romans very close to the last 16 of the Champions League.

Lazio have lost ground in Serie A in the battle for a place in the top four that sends them to the new Champions League, but they are hotly contested in this season’s top European club competition and as the games go on it shows that it’s getting more and more.

That’s exactly what he did on Tuesday evening (28/11) on the 5th matchday of the 5th group, when Maurizio Sarri’s team encountered strong resistance from Celtic at the “Olympic” but found a way to win the Golden Triple, which increased to 10 points and sent their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages soaring.

The big star of the game was Ciro Immobile. The team captain came on as a substitute in the 61st minute and decided the game in the final by scoring two goals in three minutes (82nd 85th) and the adoration of the Eagles fans knew.

It is even mentioned that Immobile was the first Italian to score at least two goals in the last 10 minutes of a Champions League game (not including playoffs) since Luca Toni against Sporting in February 2009.

The match

Lazio were the most motivated team in the game and were aiming to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, but despite scoring 11 goals in the first half, none of the three scorers managed to overcome Hart’s goal and the Scots only had one goal. Ultimately, however, they were in control of the tempo with 56% possession.

The situation did not change in the second half and after an hour of play Sarri switched to Immobile and Pedro (instead of Castegianos and Anderson), with the Lazio captain showing his great class and acumen in scoring.

In the 82nd minute, he took advantage of a counterattack that penetrated Isaksen’s shot and executed Hart with a cross from close range. In elaborate fashion, the Englishman beat the keeper for the second time, this time with a cool shot.

Just before the final Celtic won a penalty but the referee took it back after seeing the situation on the monitor (VAR called him). After the final whistle, the Scots said goodbye to Europe and Lazio took an important step towards qualification and hoped for Atlético to win in the Netherlands against Feyenoord and thus move into the “16” from matchday 5.

Slim and closed stands. UEFA severely punishes Bayern for fans’ behavior

“Bavaria” Penalized for fans using fireworks in the Champions League match against Sporting – 3:1

Following the repeated use of pyrotechnics in the South Stand during home matches in the UEFA Champions League, Bayern were fined €50,000 by the UEFA Disciplinary Commission and the partial closure of the Allianz Arena (sectors 111–114) for the club’s next home match in European competition. The previously imposed suspended penalty will come into force after the incident in the match against Sporting Lisbon on 9 December 2025 and will be applied in the next home match against Union Saint-Gilloise on 21 January.

As tickets are not allocated to blocks during Bayern home matches in the lower tier of the South Stand and all 9,336 tickets for blocks 109-117 are valid, the club cannot technically cancel only 4,800 tickets for blocks 111-114. Therefore, as a first step, all South Stand tickets will be canceled and the club will refund the ticket price to the relevant buyers. All South Stand tickets will therefore be void and will not entitle you to a match against Saint-Gilloise at the Allianz Arena.

Ticket cancellations will be made on Friday. 109-110 and 115-117. In case of resale of seats in the blocks, Bayern will inform you about further actions and organizational details in a timely manner.

Anatoly TRUBIN: “It’s difficult, but Mourinho knows what to do”

Ukrainian goalkeeper of Benfica Lisbon Anatoly Trubin He believes his team can reach the knockout stages of the Champions League despite having just six points after six matches.

“We understand that we have put ourselves in a really bad and difficult situation with these four defeats in the first four matches. But we still think we can do it. We are still alive. It is still difficult because we will have to play with two strong teams (Juventus and Real Madrid – approx.).”

But as you said, we have a coach who has won a lot. And the last match for him was an anniversary match; 750th match of his career. So he has a lot of experience. And he knows what to do. He knows what to say to us to make us understand that we still have a chance. And we will work as one group; players, coaches, technical staff, everyone. Fans too. And together we can do this,” the goalkeeper said in an interview with On The Continent – A European Football Podcast.
