Shakhtar ready to play Champions League matches in Gdansk, Poland
Shakhtar’s management were very pleased with the welcome and infrastructure they received during their recent visit to Gdansk, Poland for a charity match against their native Lechia.
Despite Donetsk’s first stay in a hotel under 5 stars in many years, Shakhtar representatives were so pleased with the reception that they unofficially announced their desire to host home matches. The Champions League next season in Gdansk cannot be held on Ukrainian soil, otherwise.
It is worth noting that Polsat Plus Arena is located in Gdansk, which opened in 2011 and hosted Euro 2012 matches. The capacity of the stadium is 44,000 spectators.
