Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag shared his impressions of the match against Galatasaray (3:3).

“We were winning but we lost the points. We needed to get the three points, that’s obvious. The same thing happened in the other matches: even though we played very well at home against Galatasaray and away in Copenhagen. I want to pay a big compliment to the team, but at the same time, the team and us I also have to criticize: both the coaches and myself as a manager. We are not defending well enough. We are 3-1 up and we cannot afford the mistakes we make because that makes all the difference. In the Champions League you are punished for that, so you have to learn from that.

We will fix it but I am very pleased, you see the style of the team. Active, dynamic, brave, I already said this, I am very pleased with the game. We created so many opportunities. Also, in the end, we could have won this match with the luck of McTominay and Pellistri. These were big chances and it had nothing to do with luck, it was about playing good football.

I am responsible for the outcome, it is always like that. But I also know that we participated in the project. We’re moving forward, we’re making improvements, that’s very encouraging. There is a right direction, so I know where we need to go, what steps we need to take, and I believe we will be successful in the long run. Manchester United’s official website stated Erik ten Hag that we need to win the next match if we want to stay in the Champions League.
