Sevilla 2-3 Eindhoven: Incredible turnaround from two goals down and ready for qualification
Eindhoven had to admit defeat by two goals, but managed to turn the game around in the end and took a big step towards qualification with a 3-2 win against “Ramon Sanchez Pictuan” and sent Sevilla into the fight for (beloved) Europe League.
Eindhoven’s back is against the wall on matchday 5 with Ramon Sanchez Pitjuan 2nd group of the Champions League, but made an incredible comeback in the final minutes against Sevilla and took the win 3-2 which puts them in 2nd place overall.
Ismael Shaibari’s miracle goal, Nemanja Gudel’s own goal and Ricardo Pepi’s stoppage-time goal turned the tables and canceled out Sergio Ramos’ first goal on his return to the Andalusians.
Diego Alonso’s men came out strong and tried to grab the Dutch by the scruff of the neck as not even a draw kept them in the hunt for qualification. Ramos scored the first goal for the hosts in the 24th minute and celebrated furiously, a little later the ball landed in the Eindhoven net again, but the goal did not count due to offside.
Youssef en Nesiri was quite active, firing at the post as the Moroccan made it 2-0 at the start of the second half and seemed to ‘secure’ the win. The visitors were harmless and Irving Lozano’s injury in the 44th minute dashed any hopes of anything positive.
Everything was going well for the hosts until Lucas Ocampos’ second yellow card in the 68th minute. The momentum changed sharply, starting with Ismael Shaibari’s stunning goal in the same minute when he shot with his back to Marko Dmitrovic’s goal.
After the points were reduced, Alonso made a triple change, but this could not prevent the shock. In the 81st minute, Nemanja Goodell scored an own goal and as the home side went on the attack to regain the lead, Ricardo Pepi, another sub from Peter Bos, made the difference.
