Arsenal 6-0 Lance: Gunners from another planet secured qualification and first place with a party at the Emirates
Arsenal went all out for 45 minutes and had a party against Lance at the Emirates, winning 6-0, with Jorginho adding the icing on the cake in the second half. The Gunners cleared qualification and top spot in their group while taking Eindhoven into the last 16.
Arsenal turned their clash with Lance into a celebration as they ran out 6-0 winners, scoring five goals in the first 45 minutes, four of them in 15 minutes. Jorginho put the icing on the cake in the 86th minute with a well-placed penalty. Mikel Arteta’s team thus qualified and took first place in the “16” of the Champions League, taking Eindhoven with them in second place.
Lance, on the other hand, will duel Sevilla for the Europa League ticket on the last matchday in France and will be playing for two results.
The match
Arsenal showed their composure early on as they opened the scoring in the 13th minute. Tomiyasu made the tackle, the French defense couldn’t clear and Jesus caught Havertz with a header, who sent the ball into the net from close range.
The second goal came in the 21st minute with great individual energy and placement by Jesus. Two minutes later, Martinelli shot from above the penalty area, Saba intervened but sent the ball to Saka, who sent the ball into the net from close range.
What he couldn’t do in the 23rd minute, Martinelli did in the 27th minute, sending the ball into the net with a wonderful finish. Edgard scored London’s fifth (and last in the first half) goal in the 45+2 minute after a beautiful cross from Tomiyasu.
The French had a chance to reduce the score in the 40th minute, but Medina’s shot was blocked by the post. Little of note happened in the second 45 minutes until the 85th minute.
Martinelli received a penalty for an elbow strike on Khusanov, who was sent off with a red card. Jorginho took over and shaped the final score.
