Former Shakhtar striker Facundo Ferreira attended the Pitmen’s training ahead of the decisive Champions League match against Porto (13 November 22:00). The Argentinian shared his expectations from the fight as follows:

– Facundo, you attended Shakhtar’s pre-match training. Why did you decide to visit your old team?

“I haven’t seen the kids in years.” I’m happy I could be here, there are so many emotions. Glad I came!

How was meeting with old friends?

– I talked mostly with Pyatov; He told me that he worked as a trainer. I also saw Nikolai and Styopa. It was nice to meet everyone again.

– Do you follow Shakhtar anymore? If your answer is yes, what can you say about the current team?

– Yes, I watch the matches. I know the victory against Barcelona and now the Champions League play-off match. I’m glad I got to see this fight.

– What can you say about the game? Who will win?

– Shakhtar! One hundred percent! The team must win and continue to play in the Champions League.

– Do you have special memories of your best goals?

– I think it was a goal scored in the match against Roma in the Champions League.

– Why this particular ball?

– Because it was important and apparently we won 2:1.

– You played for Shakhtar in 2014 and you knew that the war had begun. How can you comment on the current situation?

“I remember reading about this in the newspaper two years ago. I was very sad because I have many friends in Ukraine. I know that the situation is a little different now, I talked with friends. I hope that the war will end as soon as possible and people can return to normal life.

– What memories do you have of Ukraine?

“It was a great four years.” I remember the people, the city, and the cold weather. The best memories remain.

– What would you like to say to all our fans?

– I remember the Ukrainian fans, they are simply amazing. I remember my performances at the Donbass Arena. Maybe one day I’ll play there again. I wish Shakhtar to return to their home stadium as soon as possible.

– What can you say to Ukrainians?

– I know what the situation is now. I remember good people living there, it’s a good country. I wish Ukrainians all the best.
