The last 6th round match of Champions League Group C was played between Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk on December 13. The match ended with the score of 5:3 for the “dragons”.

The Ukrainian club failed to qualify for the play-offs in the main European Cup tournament and will continue to play in the Europa League in the spring.

Pitmen, playing together with Barcelona, ​​​​Porto and Antwerp in Quartet C, finished the league in third place with 9 points out of 18.

Interestingly, this result has emerged with the new Champions League format to be introduced in the 2024/25 season. Shakhtar (mentioning 9 points) will allow the team to enter 1/16 final competitions.

From the 2024/25 season, 36 clubs will compete in the main stage of the Champions League (formerly the group stage), with a further four teams given the opportunity to compete with Europe’s best teams. These 36 clubs will play in a single league where they will compete against each other.

The clubs taking the first 8 places will advance to the 1/8 final, and the clubs taking the 9th to 24th place will advance to the 1/16 final.
