Champions League: Thoughts on Final 4, finally the doubles semifinals
UEFA is considering hosting the Champions League Final 4 in one city, meaning the doubles semi-finals will be scrapped.
UEFA is working on a proposal that will create a high quality football week. The idea has been around for a long time in the upper echelons of the European federation and appears to be moving to the next phase.
Who is she; To hold a Final 4 in the Champions League by basketball standards. Specifically, the two semi-finals and the final will be held in a shared city within a week.
This practically ends the doubles semifinals and gives it the character of a final. This mode of operation is to be continued from the 2024/25 season.
If confirmed, the 2024 final at Wembley will be the last to feature this system.
The reactions are mixed
Of course, this idea has to go through all the relevant UEFA bodies in order to be implemented. Of course, their president, Alexander Cheferin, should already agree to this idea.
Of course we have to wait and see what reactions there will be from the clubs, but also from the association of the European Championships.
At this point we must emphasize that this system has existed since 1955 and this is a significant change.
