Dynamo Kiev played the Champions Road 3rd round rematch on Wednesday, December 10. UEFA Youth League Against their peers from Scottish Hibernian. For the people of Kiev, this was the last match of the calendar year 2025, so Pavel Cherednichenko’s charges were determined to get only positive results before the winter break.

Dinamo took the lead after the first game (1:0), which forced the Hibernian players to press from the first minutes to restore equality in the match. The white-blue team took control of the ball in a short time. This resulted in a powerful long-range strike from Lyusin which missed the Hibernian goalpost.

Midway through the first half, Dinamo players began to move closer and closer to the Hibernian penalty area, thus showing their desire to improve their advantage in the score. Redushko, in particular, impressively dived into the opponent’s penalty area, but his shot was blocked. A few minutes later, Lyusin took advantage of the Scots’ cut-back in his own penalty area, but he failed to get a successful shot and the ball flew over the goal.

Dinamo’s moments became more intense. In the 33rd minute, after Ponomarenko’s shot, which went to Osipenko’s cross, the ball hit the left post, only the goalkeeper prevented the goal.

Thereupon, Hibernian stood up again and made an attack in the Dinamo penalty area, which resulted in one of the home players falling down. The head referee did not see any rule violations in this section and did not decide on a penalty. Clelland came on shortly afterwards from a potentially dangerous position, but the strike did not cause any significant problems for Surkis, who calmly collected the ball.

In the final minutes of the first half, Dinamo had another crazy chance to open the scoring. Osipenko skillfully made a pass between the lines to Lyusin, who went one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He did not allow the opposing midfielder to take a shot and then passed the ball to Andreyko, whose shot was also blocked.

Dinamo continued the momentum it gained at the end of the first half at the beginning of the second half. The Kiev team immediately created two chances – Andreyko and Redushko shot at the Hibernian goal, but both attempts did not result in a goal.

That’s right, Hibernian players opened the scoring in the match. In the 51st minute, Cliliand almost hit the top corner with a dribbling shot from distance – the shot was off target. Dynamo responded almost immediately. Osipenko carried the ball alone into the penalty area and immediately shot low, Mellon could not react to it.

After both teams scored, the game opened up further. This is understandable; Hibernian wanted to catch Dinamo again and the white-blue wanted to strengthen their advantage and solve the problem regarding the winner of the match.

The Kyiv team continued to attack the Hibernian goal to score the second goal. Redushko, who recently made his debut for the Dinamo A team, continued to display a great desire for success. He shot into the near corner in the 61st minute, but Mellon turned the ball into a corner. Osipenko also re-entered the Hibernian penalty area and scored a double, but failed to land an emphatic shot.

Dinamo could effectively take the lead in the 80th minute. Ponomarenko shot himself after Redushka’s corner kick, but his shot was parried by the goalkeeper. Redushko also decided to try his luck and tried to catch Mellon off guard with a shot almost from the middle of the field, but he kept the situation under control.

In the last seconds of the match, Redushko could have ended the conflict, but after going one-on-one, his shot was blocked at the last moment.

Despite the efforts of both teams, the score of the match remained unchanged until the final whistle and ended in a 1:1 draw. Dynamo won a ticket to the UEFA Youth League 1/16 final by beating Hibernian with a score of 2:1 in two games. Dinamo is entering the winter break in an extremely positive mood.
