Anthony Gordon’s two goals for Newcastle United against Bayer Leverkusen equaled Alan Shearer’s record for the most goals scored for the club in a Champions League season.

The English player both scored a goal and made an assist in this match. Now Gordon has 7 goals in the Champions League season (5+2).

This was a repeat of the success Alan Shearer achieved at Newcastle in the 2002/03 season (also 7).
