The 2000s were the brightest period in the history of Russian football. In the 2000s, the brutal domination of Oleg Romantsev’s Spartak came to an end, Lokomotiv Moscow reached the top, and CSKA and Zenit won the first and last European trophies for teams from what is now Russia.

An unprecedented success awaited the national team: in 2008, under the leadership of Guus Hiddink, our national team made it to the European Championship playoffs for the first time.

The incomparable Rubin, who beat Barcelona in the Champions League, the legendary snow derby, the only “partner” won by the Russian team, Arshavin’s poker at Anfield – all this is zero. Not as spooky as the nineties, but no less brilliant.
