On 28 May, Paris hosted the Champions League final match between Liverpool and Real Madrid. The start of the match was postponed due to problems with access to the Liverpool fans’ stadium. The police used tear gas against them.

Liverpool had the game advantage in the first 45 minutes of the match, but at the end of the half, Real Madrid’s striker Karim Benzema managed to score. Chief referee of the match, Clement Turpin, did not count the ball due to offside after checking VAR.

The only winning goal in the second half came from Vinicius. Real Madrid has won the Champions League/European Cup trophy for the 14th time with a record. Madrid club lost only three times in its history in the final of this tournament. Liverpool lost for the fourth time in their history with six wins in the Champions League/CEC final.
