Speaking at the press conference ahead of PAOK’s first game against Gent, Andre Vierinia underscored that Dikefalos is making history in Europe, declaring that qualification for the quarter-finals of the Conference League in Belgium will be ‘completed’.
PAOK welcomes Gent on Thursday (October 3, 7:45 p.m., COSMOTE SPORT 2 HD and live from Sportish) in Toumba for the first game in the round of 16 of the Europa Conference League.
Dikefalos captain Andre Vierinia expressed optimism about the team’s qualification for the quarterfinals of the tournament at the press conference on Wednesday (09/03), while stressing that PAOK is making history in Europe.
Details of what he said in the press conference:
“I think it was difficult from the start, not only management but also the games. Now we’re in a good phase. The results are coming out and we’re continuing like this. That’s what we want to play as a footballer and as a Thursday-Sunday .” I wanted Wednesdays or Tuesdays, but “we have that. May we have a good result and go further.”
What lessons did you learn from the games against Midtjylland?
“The results this year show that we’ve learned a lot from our presence in Europe. We’ve made history with our presence in Europe since we’re 16. They’re different teams than Midtjylland. It’s two games and I’m sure that the qualification will end in Belgium.” .
A comment on Ghent, how did you see it? Does it matter that the first game takes place in Toumba?
“It’s a team with six wins in a row, it’s got confidence, it’s got intensity, it’s strong. We know where to be careful, where to work. We want that to be consistent in these games, we have an experienced team and we can play a number of games.” We are ready and without any injuries that we have been through. If we’re healthy, we can move on and move on.”
In your previous term, PAOK didn’t manage to play in Europe in March, how do you expect that?
“I’m expecting a difficult game. A team with quality, intensity, confidence. We know what we have to do, we’ve worked for it. It’s what we all dream of from the game series, we want that and go as far as we do be able.
Warm to keep us warm. It’s one thing to play with fans and another without. And we all know the atmosphere in Toumba at the European Games. To have you by our side and to help us”.
Do you feel like ambassadors for Greek football as you are the only team continuing in Europe?
“We made history. We want to continue writing them, first for us, as a team, as players, and if we can help Greece to reach 15th place and have another team in Europe, especially in the Champions League, I will like that.”
After a 20-game unbeaten streak, is PAOK Lutsescu’s team now?
“We still have a long way to go. Lutsescu’s team is used to winning. We learn something every day. Of course we’re not at the same level as the authorities, but we can still improve.”
The goal against Midtjylland was the eleventh, was it the best or do you remember someone else?
“I played with Gent in the Champions League, I wish we had the same result tomorrow.”
