In an official statement, Bodo Glimt denounced Roma’s attack on their coach Ketil Knuchen, specifically the Italian goalkeeping coach
The game Bodo Glimt – Roma with a 2:1 victory of the Norwegians had a third half. The Norwegians filed a lawsuit against the Italians with their announcement on Friday morning (April 8) and even spoke of a physical attack on club coach Ketil Knutsen.
In her announcement, Glimt emphasizes that there is a video of the bellows available to UEFA and asks that it be released. The Norwegians also reported Roma goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos to the police over the attack on the 53-year-old coach.
Of course, it should be noted that the Italians, through their captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, pointed out that Bodo Glimt’s coach was the first to attack the Roma goalkeeper’s coach.
The relevant announcement states:
“An attack on the values of the club. Roma behavior is not just a physical attack on Ketil Knutsen, it is a systematic attack on Glimt’s values. We as a small club cannot stand with a hat in our hands and accept it.
I play football because it’s my passion and it gives me pleasure. “I’m sad to have to witness unsportsmanlike manipulation first hand,” said Ketil Knutsen.
Video proves the attack on Knutsen
Roma bombard the media with untruths to hide their unsportsmanlike behavior. Glimt knows that there is a video of the incident showing the attack on Knutsen by Roma representatives. The club saw this video. We request that the public have access to this UEFA video.
Knutsen also says he is shocked by the reprehensible behavior Roma have brought to the game.
A clear breach of the Rules of the Game is that the Roma goalkeeping coach was illegally placed outside the coaching staff, where he constantly verbally and gesturedly harassed Knutsen. Glimt informed the fourth official and the UEFA representative several times. Our complaints went unheeded and the Roma goalkeeping coach continued his annoying behavior unhindered.
“The whole thing culminated in a physical attack on me in the bellows. I’m usually so quiet by nature that I’ve withdrawn. In this case I was physically attacked. He grabbed my neck and pushed me against the wall. Of course I have to “fight back”, says Knutsen.
Knutsen says he has no adrenaline tolerance and no commitment to the coaching staff during a race. He says it’s a natural part of football.
“The embarrassing behavior that we have seen in the last century has nothing to do with a football field,” says Knutsen.
Glimt has no choice but to report Nuno Santos to the police for physically assaulting Ketil Knutsen. This behavior is totally unacceptable. It is a systematic provocation, manipulation and finally physical violence against Ketil Knutsen.
We are sure that an objective court will ignore false accusations made by the Roma technical staff, says Glimt’s managing director, Fronde Thomassen.
Thomassen expects them UEFA is responding and upholding football’s global values of non-violence and fair play.
Now our attention turns to the games that will follow in the coming days. “We at Glimt will show sporting courage and strong football principles based on the values we believe in,” concludes Knutsen.
