Feyenoord defeated Prague with a 3-1 victory over Slavia and deservedly celebrated qualification to the top 4 teams of the Europa Conference League, where they will find their way to the Marseille final.
This year, Feyenoord’s European tour has even more miles to cover. The first leg in Rotterdam saw Slavia Prague 3-3, but it was the second leg in the Czech Republic that made the difference in Arne Slot’s side after they prevailed 3-1 and qualified for the semi-finals had the Conference League.
A great protagonist for the Dutch was the striker Dessers, who twice found his way to the nets and laid the foundation for victory qualification, his last obstacle on the way to the Tirana final being Marseille.
The game
The Prague game didn’t have many big phases in the first half, but two childish mistakes by both teams’ defenses brought the same number of goals before the end of the first quarter.
In the 2nd minute, all of Slavia’s defense was asleep and Dessers took advantage to come out against Mantou and defeat him 0-1 with a left court, while in the 14th minute Koktsou carelessly turned the ball back and provided an assist Traore to say thank you for the gift to the home team and equalize to 1-1.
With this result, both teams went into the dressing rooms at the break, but the mistakes continued in the second half and the plate tipped in favor of the Dutch. This happened in the 59th minute when goalkeeper Madus made a tragic check and allowed Dessers to find a face against him, with the Nigerian easily dodging him and writing the 2-1 for Feyenoord.
The Slavia players came forward pressed for time as they were definitely in for a goal, with Feyenoord playing against them in the 78th minute and punishing them when Sinistera used an assist from Hendrix to make it 3-1 with his fifth goal to score the year in the Conference League.
That goal effectively ended the game, leaving the hosts with 10 players in 94 minutes after Katsaraba was sent off, and the Dutch celebrating a crucial qualification that puts them one step closer to qualifying for a European final.
