A 50,000 fine for PAOK and a ban on moving fans for a game in Europe with a two-year ban

UEFA announced the punishment of Marseille and PAOK for what happened in Velontrom between the fans of the two teams before and during the game.

UEFA announced on Maundy Tuesday (19.4.) that PAOK and Marseille would be punished for what happened in Velontrom during the first game of the Conference League between fans of both teams before and during the confrontation.

However, the relevant decision includes a €50,000 fine for PAOK and banning its fans from traveling to an away game in Europe with a two-year ban. The penalty was tough for Marseille too, the penalty was higher while a door will be closed in the following game against Feyenoord.

Makis Gagatsis and attorneys Achilleas Mavromatis and Christos Papathomas represented PAOK PAE in the hearing process via conference call.

The relevant press release states:

“The relevant UEFA committee today announced the following decisions that will affect the attendance of fans at UEFA matches:

PAOK:

– Ban PAOK FC from selling tickets for the next (1) match in Europe to its away fans and fine PAOK FC €50,000 for throwing objects, setting off fireworks, harming and disturbing people.

This ban on ticket sales is subject to a two (2) year trial period commencing on the date of this decision.

– Order PAOK FC to contact Marseille within 30 days to settle the damages caused by its fans

MARSEILLE:

order the partial closure of Marseille’s stadium, which will consist of the entire Virage Nord, during the next (1) UEFA match in which Marseille would play as the host team and fine Marseille 80,000 for lighting fireworks, items throw and stir up a crowd.

“Fine of 18,000 euros in Marseille for closing public roads.”
