Mircea LUCHESCU: “My words about the last game at Dynamo are full of emotion”

Dynamo head coach Mircea Lucescu He answered the questions of journalists in Istanbul on the eve of the match between local Fenerbahce and Dynamo Kyiv in the 1st round match of the group stage of the Europa League.

– You said that your players were demoralized after the recent defeat in the Ukrainian championship. Do you think this could affect the outcome of tomorrow’s match?

– I don’t think it will have an impact on our team. We have professional football players who know how to watch the matches. At the start of the European Cup tournament, there is an important match that both teams want to play at a good level. Last time we played a very good match with a great atmosphere in the stadium we expect tomorrow in Istanbul.

– From the moment you played against Fenerbahçe in the Champions League qualifiers, the formation of this team has improved and they are playing more effectively now. Is the opponent stronger?

– It is not true that the formation of Fenerbahçe has changed. In general, it is the same. One of the midfielders – Arao or Yuksek – comes back and plays in three series, but now this remake includes a defender. Jesus always uses such a scheme.

It is worth noting that Fenerbahçe has done a very good job of signing a large number of quality new players. Pedro, Enrique, are about 30 years old and have professional football experience.

– After the Dnipro-1 game, you said that this might be your last game at Dynamo, but you led the team to the next Zorya game…

– These were feelings, because we are going through a very difficult moment. After the Zorya match, it took us 11 hours to reach Chisinau, where we flew to Istanbul. It’s a tough situation, but football gives you a variety of experiences. Despite everything, we are preparing for a good match tomorrow.

– You’ve scored two goals in the last four games and…

– Yes, we had a number of negative results. We had a full advantage over our opponents in the Ukrainian Premier League games, but we made mistakes on defense and conceded very simple goals. It was the same with Benfica. This is because players are constantly focusing on the situation in their country, thinking about the safety of their families and children. We don’t have a permanent home anymore, we travel from city to city to play games. I don’t know where we are tomorrow. And this is not easy. But as I said, we have very good players, so we hope to have a positive result in the Europa League.

– Jorge Jesus said that football always gives a second chance and that Fenerbahçe hopes to take advantage of it. What do you think about that?

– Fenerbahce is a top-level team with an excellent staff. The head coach, who is also very experienced and qualified, did a good job. He knows very well what needs to be done on the field to achieve victory. Fenerbahçe will be one of the main candidates for the championship in Turkey.

– Do you believe you will win tomorrow?

– First of all, we have to play. Fenerbahce, like us, aims to start the Europa League with a win. Let’s see how the game goes. This applies not only to tomorrow’s game, but also to all future matches in the group. We will find out who will be the winner of the quartet only in November.

Zinchenko announces Nottingham Forest’s Europa League victory over Utrecht

Ukrainian defender Nottingham Forest Alexander Zinchenko He shared his feelings after his team beat Utrecht (2:1) in the main round of the Europa League.

“It’s a great feeling. First of all, I’m back. Secondly, it’s an incredible feeling to win a match. Getting three points today was very important for us. As you can see, it was a difficult match. But at the end of the match, I think we got what we wanted and let’s continue like that.”

“As a defender you always want to keep a clean sheet, but unfortunately we couldn’t do that today. So it’s something we need to work on in the future.”

“This is one of those matches where whoever wins the most challenges in different areas of the field will win the match. Today we won many more goals which helped us a lot in the game. But to be honest, even the opportunities we created, including me, we should have scored and finished this match earlier,” said Zinchenko.

Nottingham Forest is in 11th place in the rankings with 11 points after 6 matches in the Europa League this season.

Sports doctor criticizes Nottingham head coach over Zinchenko

sports doctor Dmitry Babelyuk He was not happy with the decision made by Sean Dyche, the head coach of English Nottingham, in the match against Dutch Utrecht in the Europa League (2-1).

The Foresters’ coach has given Ukraine national team defender Alexander Zinchenko a place in the starting squad after the player missed nine matches due to injury.

“These old-school coaches never cease to amaze. In 2025, with the advancement of sports science and medicine, I don’t understand how it is possible to release a player from the winger position for a full 90 minutes at the same time after two muscle injuries.

First, Moyes did this to Mikolenko, which led to Vitaly’s relapse. Now Dyche makes the same obvious mistakes.

Understanding that Zinchenko is a player who has regularly suffered from muscle problems in recent seasons; injured twice at Nottingham in the last three months; Having not played for the last six weeks, I cannot imagine how anyone could be so negligent in getting a player into top playing form.

This is not often seen in the new generation of coaches such as Thomas Frank or Enzo Mareschi, but the old ones continue to rely on their own emotions, leaving players in danger of unnecessary relapses.

I hope everything goes well for Sasha and he returns to his best form, but playing 90 minutes at a time after two months of treatment is outright stupidity in modern football at the top level,” Babelyuk raged.

DYCH: “There was no such plan. Zinchenko did an incredible job”

Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche The performance of the players who returned to the field after their injuries in the 6th round match against Utrecht in the Europa League (2-1) was evaluated as follows:

“I’m happy for a lot of the players. Douglas Louis only trained for two days. I don’t usually do that, but he talked to me and said he felt good. He wanted to play.”

“Zinchenko did an incredible job” for the full 90 minutes. We didn’t have such a plan, but we can only make a certain number of changes.

Murillo returned after a week’s illness. We had to be careful with him.

It was difficult to make sound decisions about who would play, who would not play, and how many minutes he would stay on the field. But in the end everything went well and I am very happy.”
