Complaints about Gasperini’s referee after Cagliari defeat
Gian Piero Gasperini expressed disappointment after Atalanta’s home defeat by Cagliari, with the coach of Olympiacos opponents in the Europa League play-offs of 16 not hiding his complaints about the referees.
Not only could Atalanta not get back on the road to success as desired, but they also suffered a home defeat against Cagliari on Sunday afternoon in Bergamo, which made their lives even more difficult in the fight for entry into the new Champions League by conquering 4th place.
“In the first half we were always in our own half of the field, but in the second half we didn’t get any quality, the situation became complicated with the red card for Musos and we lost meters and distance.
“We have to get our heads back in shape and redesign our course in the championship.” said the Bergamaski coach, who didn’t let Cagliari’s 0-1 phase occupies.
“It’s clear that Pereiro takes the ball with his arm, they see it in VAR, but it’s not that hand, what should I think then? We’re not very lucky with VAR at home.”
Aside from refereeing, however, ‘Gasp’ also spoke about the responsibilities of his own team, saying: “The team was bad and in the end everything was lost. We have to manage the closed games better, produce quality and without mistakes.
“We’ll have to find our calm again and think less about the goal.”
Regarding Duvan Sapata’s injury (a change was made in 58 and he had to go in 72), he said: “We will see in the next few hours that he slipped and got up feeling the anger from before.”
