Spartak Moscow: “We do not agree with FIFA-UEFA’s decision, but we are forced to obey it”
Spartak Moscow has issued a statement against the decision by FIFA and UEFA to ban Russian clubs from international competitions and consequently the Moscow side’s exclusion from the current Europa League. The Russians will respect the decision and will not appeal while they want a quick peace.
Spartak Moscow issued a statement on the joint decision by FIFA and UEFA to ban Russian teams and the Russian national team from international competitions due to the Russian military invasion of Ukraine.
A decision that affects the Muscovites directly, as their course in the Europa League ended prematurely and from the place, with Leipzig, drawn for the “16” of the tournament, going directly into the quarter-finals.
Spartak said in a statement that it opposed the decision, but stressed that it would respect it (it could appeal to CAS) and wished for a speedy peace.
“Although expected, the decision by FIFA and UEFA annoyed us. We believe that even in the most difficult times, sport should aim to build bridges, not break them.
Unfortunately, the efforts of our team in this course of the Europa League will be canceled for sporting reasons.
Spartak has millions of fans not only in Russia but all over the world. Successes and failures bring us into contact with dozens of people from different countries, even in the most difficult times, sport must build bridges, not break them.
Another decision has been made that we do not agree with, but we are forced to obey.
Spartak will focus on the performance of the Russian championship and the national cup. “We hope for an early peace, which is necessary for everyone.” Spartak said in a statement.
