Lyon 0-3 West Ham: triumph in France and qualification for the semi-finals of the Europa League
West Ham have progressed to the semi-finals of the Europa League thanks to a triumphant 3-0 win over Lyon in France and will meet Eintracht in the next stage.
West Ham left the events in London behind and broke off with a super show 3-0 Lyon in the “group” for the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
Combined with the 1-1 draw in the first leg, England qualified for the semi-finals where they meet Eintracht.
Everything developed within ten minutes, between the 1st and 2nd half. Up to that point the game was even (although the French scored a goal with Carl Toko Ekambi), with good moments for both sides that rekindled the good game against England.
Everything changed in the 38th minute. Craig Dawson opened the scoring from a corner and minutes later Declan Rice doubled the visitors’ goals with a fine shot. Early in the second half, a mistake by France gave Jarrod Bowen an opportunity to make it 3-0 and secured qualification.
The withdrawal of the “Hammers” did not have a positive effect on Lyon. Peter Bos’ players had pointless possession without finding any threatening endgames and had to confine themselves to a bitter home defeat.
