A Brighton representative referred to the tear gas thrown outside the AEK Stadium and pointed out that the Union were an excellent host.

After the end of AEK’s game against Brighton, police used tear gas. The fans of the English team who were still in the stadium were also affected.

In fact, the matter took to social media proportions when the Daily Mail reported the incident in detail.

A representative of the group was asked about this issue and pointed out: Once again the Brighton fans who attended were a credit to the club and supported the team on another historic night. We are aware of a small number of post-match micro-incidents. We understand that this led to police using tear gas. Nobody had any direction to the visitors’ stand.

However, we also know that this unintentionally affected many Albion fans. We will carry out further inquiries and seek clarity from AEK – who have been excellent hosts – and UEFA, but for now we will not be making any further comments.”
