Gregoric was voted player of the game with his hat-trick against Olympiakos
Mikael Gregoric starred in Freiburg’s 5-0 win over Olympiakos with a hat-trick that saw UEFA award him the best player award on matchday five of the Europa League.
Olympiacos Piraeus hoped for a breakthrough in Freiburg on Thursday evening to stay alive in the fight to qualify for the next round of the Europa League, but capitulated unconditionally against the team of the same name and suffered a 5-0 defeat.
The game was essentially decided in the first part as Christian Streich’s side scored four goals, while Mikael Gregoric attracted most of the attention.
The Austrian played a party in the Piraeus defense, sending the ball into Paschalakis’ net about every three times, as his incredible offensive crescendo continued with two goals in the first 8 minutes and a hat-trick in the 36th minute.
This fact did not go unnoticed by the European Football Association, which awarded him the title of best player of Matchday 5 of the Europa League and presented his performances against Piraeus on the corresponding Twitter account.
