Sevilla accused of bribing Europa League final referee
Spain’s Sevilla could have gained an undue advantage ahead of the 2022/2023 Europa League final, where the Andalusians beat Roma in a penalty shoot-out.
According to El Partidazo de COPE, representatives of the Spanish club secretly met with English referee Anthony Taylor before the match and spoke in an informal environment. No further action has been reported, but there is a hint that a referee from Foggy Albion was bribed.
Let us remember that after the results of the final match, Roma coach Jose Mourinho expressed his dissatisfaction with the work of the referee team and especially Taylor.
According to the source, UEFA has already launched an investigation and is awaiting a statement from Sevilla and the English referee.
