Europa League
Maccabi Haifa, Bacska Topola, Helsinki have been informed by UEFA about the possibility of matches being played behind closed doors
The opponents of the visiting Greek teams (Maccabi Haifa, Batska Topola, Helsinki) have been informed by UEFA of the possibility that the matches will be played behind closed doors.
There is a possibility that the home games of the Greek teams in Europe (Panathinaikos – Maccabi Haifa, Olympiakos – Batska Topola, PAOK – Helsinki) will be played behind closed doors due to the events of the last few days, most recently the serious incidents in the Olympiacos vs Panathinaikos volleyball match .
A scenario for which the owner of the Green Party, Yiannis Alafouzos, has already warned with his post on Twitter that it would be a “disgrace”. UEFA has already informed these three teams of the possibility that the matches could be played without fans in attendance.
UEFA’s communication to the clubs states:
“Since your teams are playing in Greece next week, I would like to inform you of a possible issue. You may have seen in the news that there was a serious hooligan incident at a volleyball game and a police officer was seriously injured
We therefore understand that the Greek government is considering ordering all matches in Greece to take place behind closed doors. It is not yet clear whether they will also apply this measure to international games. We will have a clear picture on this issue tomorrow and let you know“.
It should be noted that with the lure of a ticket to the Conference League, Maccabi Haifa has already secured 800 tickets for the Avenue final with Panathinaikos.
