Europa League match disrupted by fans: Chaos in the stands in the Netherlands
Match Europa League The match between Utrecht and Genk started with a significant delay due to events in the stands.
The Dutch club lost to its Belgian opponent with a score of 0-2 in the 7th round of the Europa League general stage.
Even before the kick-off whistle, a significant group of fans broke through the security cordon and joined other fans. The police then had to remove Genk fans from the sector for a second search.
Some aggressive fans began throwing broken seats and garbage at law enforcement officers, as well as attacking them with sticks. Police teams used pepper gas in response. At the same time, the majority of Belgian fans left the arena without any conflict.
Due to the incident, the start time of the meeting was delayed by approximately 50 minutes.
