Ferdinand: “Ronaldo doesn’t even know the Europa League anthem”

Rio Ferdinand has insisted it is perfectly reasonable for Cristiano Ronaldo to want to leave Manchester United, claiming the Portuguese doesn’t even know the anthem of the Europa League, where the team will play next season.

Cristiano Ronaldo seems to be growing further away from Manchester United after missing the team’s training session for the fourth straight day.

The Portuguese appears to have asked to leave the Red Devils with his former team-mate Rio Ferdinand backing him, stressing that it’s impossible for him to want to stay at a club that isn’t in the league.

On the FIVE YouTube channel he said: “Of course he’s not happy. We’re talking about Cristiano Ronaldo. I don’t see how it can be such a big story that Ronaldo isn’t happy with the situation at Manchester United. He can’t be. I wouldn’t be.” either.

Anyone who wants to win games or trophies, anyone who’s used to winning and competing at the top of the table for the biggest prizes every year, and suddenly they’re not – and they’re not even qualifying for the Champions League – they can’t sit here and expect them to be happy.

He’s not happy about losing the Champions League, he doesn’t even know what the Europa League anthem is.”
