Eliminated by Maccabi Haifa, Olympiacos continue in Europa League qualifiers where they meet Slovan.

Olympiacos was eliminated with the difficult 0:4 Maccabi Haifa in the 2nd qualifying round of the Champions League and continues his European journey in the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League.

A similar course followed Slovan who, despite winning 2-1 in Hungary in Hungary, were defeated 4-1 by Ferencvar in Bratislava to continue in UEFA’s second regular competition.

The Greek champions and Slovakian champions meet first at Georgios Karaiskakis on Thursday 4th August and a week later, on Thursday 11th of the month, the two sides meet at Techelne Pole.

Slovan’s profile

The Slovak champions did not find their debut participation in the Champions League groups. In the past he was eliminated by Olympiakos in the 3rd round of qualifying (2009-2010) and last year also in the Europa League playoffs, with the Greek team having no luck.

The presence of Vladimir Weiss on the bench raises the bar for the 1969 Cup Winners’ Cup holders, with the veteran coach making predictions early in the run-up to the new season. The club have already made three signings, with Swiss striker Adler da Silva standing out from Pochronie (and costing 250,000).

The team also includes his son and former Olympiakos player Vladimir Weiss, who with a brilliant direct corner kick at the end of extra time against Dinamo Batumi gave the Slovenians qualification for the second round with a surprise in Georgia.

Also important is the presence of the experienced Juraj Kutska, who has previously featured at Milan, Genoa, Watford and Parma, although the big star is now 22-year-old midfielder Yorgi Hakvetatze, who joined on loan from Gent .
