Europa League
European draw day for Olympiakos, Panathinaikos and Aris: they get to know their next opponents
On Tuesday afternoon (February 8, 2:00 p.m., LIVE Sportish) Olympiacos will learn an opponent or a pair of opponents in the Europa League playoffs, while at 3:00 p.m. (LIVE Sportish) Panathinaikos, Aris and the red-whites will learn their opponents in the as part of the Conference League Playoffs.
Three teams will take part in the draw in Nyon on Tuesday (1 August) and get to know opponents for the Europa League and Europa Conference League playoffs.
Olympiacos will kick things off (2:00 p.m., LIVE Sportish), taking part in two draws on Tuesday. First, he will take part in the Europa League playoff draw, where he will find himself if he gets past Slovan Bratislava, while he will also find an opponent for the Conference League in case he is eliminated by the Slovaks. Let’s see in detail.
Olympiacos’ potential opponents in the Europa League
On Monday (1 August), UEFA made changes to the Europa League play-off draw. In particular, there is no restriction on playing against teams from the same country and the only restriction that exists due to a tense political atmosphere is for teams from Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The “Red-Whites” find against them a team from the first priority group, these are:
- Gent (Belgium)
- Austria (Austria)
- hearts (Scotland)
- Sivasspor (Turkey)
- Dnipro (Ukraine)
- Silkeborg (Denmark)
Your potential opponent can come from the second priority group, the teams eliminated in the 3rd round of Champions League qualification and will be the losers of the following couples.
Of course, the question here is whether Olympiacos or any other team from the pre-stage team can get in the way. For example, if the “red and white” can be redrawn with Maccabi Haifa based on the current data.
This of course seems a bit strange and maybe at the last moment – just before the draw – UEFA will impose some restrictions on the pairings. Anyway, based on today’s data, Olympiacos may fall with the pairs losers:
- Maccabi Haifa (Israel) or Apollo Limassol (Cyprus)
- Karabakh (Azerbaijan) or Ferentsvaros (Hungary)
- Ludogorets (Bulgaria) or Dynamo Zagreb (Croatian)
- sheriff (Moldova) or Pilsen (Czech Republic)
- Bodo shine (Norway) or Salgiris Vilnius (Lithuania)
- Red Star (Serbia) or Punic (Armenia)
Possible opponents in the Conference League
Of course, Olympiacos take part in the Europa Conference League draw an hour later so they know their opponent in case they fail to overtake Slovan Bratislava.
The contenders for the Conference League Playoffs have been known since last week and will come from the following pairings. Always in case Olympiacos is eliminated from the Europa League, of course.
- viking (Iceland) – Leh (Poland)
- Riga (Latvia) – hibernian (Malta)
- Balkans (Kosovo) – Claxwick (Faroe Islands)
- Zrinsky (Bosnia) – tom ball (Kazakhstan)
- Shakhtar (Belarus) – Cluj-Napoca (Romania)
Expected opponents of Panathinaikos – Aris in the Conference League
On Monday (1/8) Panathinaikos and Aris were divided into “sub-groups” and got to know their potential opponents with a view to Tuesday’s Conference League playoff draw.
It should be remembered that both Greek teams are among the strongest in this process, having inherited the coefficients of their two opponents (Slavia Prague and Maccabi Tel Aviv respectively).
The Greens’ potential opponents include Yiannis Papanikolaou’s Rakov and Stratos Svarnas, while Lefski Sofias, who missed PAOK in the second qualifying round of the competition, could be on the way.
On the other hand, Aris fell to more difficult teams as they didn’t avoid Nis, but so did Vitoria Guimaraes (a pair with Marko Livaya’s Hajduk) and Konyaspor.
The opponents of Panathinaikos
- Rakov (Poland) / Spartak Trnava (Slovakia)
- MOL Fehervar (Hungary) / Petrocube (Moldova)
- Levski (Bulgaria) / Hamrun (Malta)
- Lugano (Switzerland) / Hapoel Beer Sheva (Israel)
The enemies of Mars
- Nice, France)
- Hajduk Split (Croatia) / Vitoria Guimaraes (Portugal)
- Vaduz (Liechtenstein) / Konyaspor (Turkey)
- Viking (Norway) / Sligo Rovers (Northern Ireland)

Zinchenko announces Nottingham Forest’s Europa League victory over Utrecht
Ukrainian defender Nottingham Forest Alexander Zinchenko He shared his feelings after his team beat Utrecht (2:1) in the main round of the Europa League.
“It’s a great feeling. First of all, I’m back. Secondly, it’s an incredible feeling to win a match. Getting three points today was very important for us. As you can see, it was a difficult match. But at the end of the match, I think we got what we wanted and let’s continue like that.”
“As a defender you always want to keep a clean sheet, but unfortunately we couldn’t do that today. So it’s something we need to work on in the future.”
“This is one of those matches where whoever wins the most challenges in different areas of the field will win the match. Today we won many more goals which helped us a lot in the game. But to be honest, even the opportunities we created, including me, we should have scored and finished this match earlier,” said Zinchenko.
Nottingham Forest is in 11th place in the rankings with 11 points after 6 matches in the Europa League this season.

Sports doctor criticizes Nottingham head coach over Zinchenko
sports doctor Dmitry Babelyuk He was not happy with the decision made by Sean Dyche, the head coach of English Nottingham, in the match against Dutch Utrecht in the Europa League (2-1).
The Foresters’ coach has given Ukraine national team defender Alexander Zinchenko a place in the starting squad after the player missed nine matches due to injury.
“These old-school coaches never cease to amaze. In 2025, with the advancement of sports science and medicine, I don’t understand how it is possible to release a player from the winger position for a full 90 minutes at the same time after two muscle injuries.
First, Moyes did this to Mikolenko, which led to Vitaly’s relapse. Now Dyche makes the same obvious mistakes.
Understanding that Zinchenko is a player who has regularly suffered from muscle problems in recent seasons; injured twice at Nottingham in the last three months; Having not played for the last six weeks, I cannot imagine how anyone could be so negligent in getting a player into top playing form.
This is not often seen in the new generation of coaches such as Thomas Frank or Enzo Mareschi, but the old ones continue to rely on their own emotions, leaving players in danger of unnecessary relapses.
I hope everything goes well for Sasha and he returns to his best form, but playing 90 minutes at a time after two months of treatment is outright stupidity in modern football at the top level,” Babelyuk raged.

DYCH: “There was no such plan. Zinchenko did an incredible job”
Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche The performance of the players who returned to the field after their injuries in the 6th round match against Utrecht in the Europa League (2-1) was evaluated as follows:
“I’m happy for a lot of the players. Douglas Louis only trained for two days. I don’t usually do that, but he talked to me and said he felt good. He wanted to play.”
“Zinchenko did an incredible job” for the full 90 minutes. We didn’t have such a plan, but we can only make a certain number of changes.
Murillo returned after a week’s illness. We had to be careful with him.
It was difficult to make sound decisions about who would play, who would not play, and how many minutes he would stay on the field. But in the end everything went well and I am very happy.”
