Olympiacos: Pedro Martins solves European list crossword in eye on Atalanta

Published

on

Olympiacos must give UEFA the list of players eligible for the two games against Atalanta, with Pedro Martins solving the crossword. Who comes out and who comes in.

Olympiacos is preparing not only for its games in the league (Panetolikos, Ionikos, AEK, Volos, OFI) and cup (the second leg against Panetolikos), but also in Europe as the two crucial games with Atalanta are approaching (17 24 . February) in the playoff games of the Europa League.

In fact, the Red and Whites have until Wednesday (2/2) night to provide UEFA with the list of players eligible to take part in the two games against the Italian side. The Piraeus team can make up to three changes in the European list compared to the one announced in the group stage of the tournament.

The one who has a safe position is Costas Manolas (Svetozar Markovic is left out who is granted). From there, second place is expected to be taken by Gary Rodrεςguez (instead of Ahmed Hassan, who had declared a couple of twenty-four hours before leaving for Konyaspor). Joao Carvalho, Mamadou Kane and Bandiugo Fadiga are also fighting for third place. Costas Fortounis isn’t ready for the game yet and therefore it will be difficult for him to be on the list.

As for third place, Pedro Martins hasn’t decided yet because he’s waiting to see if there’s a gap until Wednesday afternoon (2/2). Specifically, he is awaiting developments with Oniekuru (Basaksehir wants him), Lopez (he is in the sights of Konyaspor and Antalyaspor) and Kude (there is also interest from Turkey).

If one of them leaves immediately, the Portuguese coach’s decision will be easier. The problem will occur if there is no development for the above three players by tomorrow. Martins then has to decide who to cross off the list at the risk of another player eventually leaving.

For example, Martins may drop Lopez or Cude from the list, but end up leaving Oniekuru out, or vice versa. And in order for Olympiacos to lose a place in the name, it will be sent to the European Confederation for the games with Atalanta. The next twenty-four hours are crucial and the red and white coach is called in to find the solution to the difficult white cross.
