Corberan: ‘I hope to have helped make Olympiacos even better in five years’ time’

Among other things, Carlos Corberan expressed in his statements in the Olympiacos match program with Apollon Limassol that he hopes that in five years he will contribute his pebble to make Piraeus better.

Olympiacos updated the schedule ahead of the match against Apollon Limassol at Georgios Karaiskakis (25/8, 22:00, COSMOTE SPORT 1HD, LIVE Sportish) for his playoffs European Leaguehe referred to his reasons for becoming a coach and of course to the red and white.

For the Piraeus team, he emphasized that his team wants to become dominant and not give the opponent any options, while when asked how he sees himself in five years, he replied that in five years he hopes to have contributed Olympiacos to become best

In detail, what Carlos Corberan said in the Olympiakos game program: What three words describe you as a coach?

Passionate, perfectionist and a person who likes to motivate“.

When did you know that you wanted to get into coaching?

At 18, while still playing soccer, I began studying physical education and sport at university and coached my village’s under-12 team. Then in K18 and K23. From that moment on, my passion for coaching surpassed that of a player. At the age of 23 I decided to leave football as a player and devote myself professionally to coaching at Villarreal“.

Which coach inspired you?

Coming from Valencia, my start was shaped by Rafa Benitez’s Valencia, with whom the team won two leagues and one UEFA and worked differently than the other coaches of the time. Later, Guardiola was my biggest point of reference and of course Bielsa, with whom I worked as an assistant at Leeds for two years.”.

What is your coaching trait that you would like to improve?

We can always improve. So I strive to be better every day than the last. Often our advantage is also our fault. My faults lie in the excess of strengths that describe me“.

How will the Olympiacos you dream of look like on the pitch?

A winning team with results and a style of play. I dream of an Olympiakos that doesn’t give opponents any options on the field. Able to take the initiative, have the ball and be aggressive when losing it“.

When are we going to see Corberan’s team and all of his philosophy at 100%?

Difficult to answer. I hope it’s soon because that’s my wish. There are things we started with, but it’s still difficult to maintain for long. We need to establish our ideas so that they become habits in our game“.

What are the key elements you look for in a player who becomes part of your team?

Quality, perception, energy, personality and offer“.

How do you see yourself in five years?

I think in life there are no plans. There is the present. And I’m honored that my gift is called Olympiacos. I hope that in five years’ time I’ve helped make Olympiacos even better. That is my wish“.

What are your first impressions of Greece, on and off the pitch?

A beautiful country with very, very high quality people. With a huge cultural and culinary heritage. A country that has developed respecting its past and its essence. And also a country that lives football in a very special way“.

What are your first impressions of the world of the team? Would you like to send them a message?

“It’s a pride for me to coach a club with these people. A club’s greatest asset is its social mass and its winning mentality. We hope to give them reasons to continue to be proud of the team on the pitch. Unity makes us stronger.”“.

Zinchenko announces Nottingham Forest’s Europa League victory over Utrecht

Ukrainian defender Nottingham Forest Alexander Zinchenko He shared his feelings after his team beat Utrecht (2:1) in the main round of the Europa League.

“It’s a great feeling. First of all, I’m back. Secondly, it’s an incredible feeling to win a match. Getting three points today was very important for us. As you can see, it was a difficult match. But at the end of the match, I think we got what we wanted and let’s continue like that.”

“As a defender you always want to keep a clean sheet, but unfortunately we couldn’t do that today. So it’s something we need to work on in the future.”

“This is one of those matches where whoever wins the most challenges in different areas of the field will win the match. Today we won many more goals which helped us a lot in the game. But to be honest, even the opportunities we created, including me, we should have scored and finished this match earlier,” said Zinchenko.

Nottingham Forest is in 11th place in the rankings with 11 points after 6 matches in the Europa League this season.
