Vatslik: Let’s build on the qualification, the changes need time to be felt
Speaking to Olympiacos TV, Tomas Vatslik stressed that qualifying for the Europa League groups can give Olympiacos confidence.
Olympiacos qualified for the Europa League group stage on Thursday night with Tomas Vatslik as the hero by saving three penalties in the heartbreaking process. In his statements to Olympiacos TV, the Red and White goalkeeper emphasized the changes that have been made in the team and the confidence that this qualification gives.
Vatslik’s statements in detail:
“I’m happy that we managed to get into the Europa League groups, even though we didn’t start the season well and went through a lot of changes. I’m happy for my teammates and the new employees because they work very hard and very well.
Change always takes time to show but I hope qualifying gives us confidence and we can continue to build on that. As I said, I am very happy about the team and the employees that we managed to get into the groups.
You also need luck in penalty shoot-outs, but what I want to say is that we prepared well with the goalkeeping coach and the other goalkeepers, we prepared well and it paid off twice.
Now we work very differently than in my first year and that takes time. Of course the whole process and all the changes need time to be seen and to adapt to everything.
I hope we keep going and we have to keep working on being focused. We have our next game on Monday and will start preparing more calmly, first for the league and then for the Europa League.
