Rayo Vallecano tried until the last minute to sign Espanyol’s Raul De Tomas but the flirtation ended ingloriously when a brawl resulted in the Madrid president being injured and hospitalized.

Raul De Tomas has been left out of Espanyol manager Diego Martinez’s plans and that fact has made him one of the most sought-after players in the football market, with Rayo Vallecano looking to sign him just before the end of the summer transfer window but to eat their face . Figuratively and literally.

The reason behind an incredible fight that broke out in front of the offices of the Stellar Group agency that represents the footballer, with several Spanish media outlets (Cadena Ser and La Cope, among others) revealing that it all started when Rayo’s president did so openly accused representatives of the 28-year-old forward of sabotaging the transfer.

Specifically, the report said Rayo’s president, Raul Martin Presa, attempted to hit one of the bureau’s lawyers, accusing him of being responsible for the last-minute mishap after he asked for an extra commission to complete the deal to complete.

That punch went wide after hitting one of De Tomas’ managers, who in turn did not sit idly by and hit back with a kick that landed the Madrid strongman on the nose.

When police showed up at the agency’s offices, Martin Presa went to the Ruber Clinic, where after a CT scan (which showed he had suffered a broken nose and a fractured upper jaw) he walked and left to the police station to file a complaint against the perpetrator.

It is understood that following this incident, De Tomas seems unlikely to join Rayo anytime soon, as the latest reports from Spain suggest the player is currently close to a deal with Saudi Arabia’s Sharjah, at a time when where the transfer window ends have closed in most European leagues.
