“If he scores a goal and decides to dance, there would definitely be a problem,” he said leader of the “Rojiblancos”, as such, would be viewed as provocative by fans of the team.
Then he spoke Pedro Bravo, O President of the Spanish Federation of Football Managers who said: “If you want to dance samba, you go to the Sambadrome, here you have to respect your colleagues and stop acting like a monkey.”
His statement quickly went viral and was branded as racist, quick to justify himself via his Twitter account: “I want to clarify that the term ‘monkeying’ that I mistakenly used to describe the Venus Dance was meant figuratively (‘doing bullshit’). Since I didn’t mean to offend anyone, I sincerely apologize. I am sorry.”
Following the incident, Vinicius received a surge of support on social media and Neymar took a stand, tweeting: “Baila, Vinnie” (=dance Vinnie).
