All-Star Game thoughts featuring the top XIs from the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga
The Premier League is considering the idea of an all-star game, pitting England’s top 11 teams against their peers from Europe’s top leagues such as La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga, with matches played 24/7 around the world.
The idea from All Star Game by American standards was recently coined by Chelsea owner Todd Boley at his own suggestion in the Premier League, but an English version of the popular American standard has drawn much criticism.
According to the Times, following Bolli’s suggestion, which was one of the club officials’ ideas, the most popular and likely plan was to form a Premier League top team that would compete against the top teams in the All-Star Game. Players from La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and other major European leagues.
The games would be played either across Europe or even worldwide during the summer months or during a winter break.
According to the publication, which cites Premier League sources, the idea is likely to develop alongside other proposals aimed at increasing football audiences and boosting television rights abroad.
