Mallorca – Barcelona 0: 1: Lewandowski leads them to the top

Xavi has chosen to play against the old guard for the game in the Balearic Islands Majorca because of the many injuries, but the show was again stolen by a… youngster, Robert Lewandowski, who gave Barcelona victory with his goal 1-0 for the 7th round of La Liga.

Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba rarely appeared in the Catalans’ starting XI but the most important presence was the Polish striker. In an impressive display of individual energy, Lewandowski increased his tally to nine goals in seven league games but it took a contribution from Marc-Andre ter Stegen for Barcelona to get into the dressing room in front of goal.

The German goalkeeper intervened again strongly in the second half and broke the individual record for unbroken home runs with the “Blaugrana” gloves. It remained 1-0 until the end, although both teams had chances and Barcelona pushed forward, waiting for Real’s result against Osasuna on Sunday.
