Athletic – Espanyol 2-1: European vault for the Basques
The formed Athletic beat Espanyol 2-1 in San Mames, making a U-turn and staying on the European circuit, sitting at -1 at 6th place on the scoreboard, Villarreal.
Athletic is thinking about the Copa del Rey, where they are already in the semifinals (they meet Valencia in two games) after already throwing Barcelona and Real out of continuity, but they don’t neglect… La Liga either.
Evidence of Monday’s (7/2) game against Espanyol ending game 23, with all of Martellino confirming their competitive advantage over the Catalans, reversing the result and claiming the 2-1 win that put them within firing range of European tickets brought.
In fact, the treble was sealed in the Basques’ favor in the first 20 minutes, in which all three goals of the game against San Mames were scored. Espanyol was the first to ‘score’ with a goal of rare creation and execution, with Poado making an impressive run from the right and turning the ball close to the penalty spot, while Filena beat Simon with an incredible shot right in the 3rd minute (0-1).
The home side’s numbness lasted just seconds as the game leveled again after the first five minutes, Santhet breaking through the visitors’ artificial offside and beating Lopeth 1-1 to confirm VAR intervention (the assistant) taking the flag hoisted by misidentifying the scorer in an offside position).
In the 16th minute the game turned completely turbulent, Vivian fed Inigo Martίνnez and he headed in to make it 2-1 for Athletic who managed to score a third goal in just four quarters in the 41st minute at Berenger.
In the second half the pace slowed down and the phases in front of the two goals were small, only once did Espanyol threaten shortly before the final (a dangerous shot went just over the crossbar from Simon’s goal) and the Basques held the 2-1 to theirs relatively easily Favor what makes them dream of going out in Europe and through La Liga.
ATHLETIC: Simon, Lekue, Vivian, Martinez, Balenciaga, Berenger (54′ Petha), Tharaga, Danny Garcia (58′ Vesga), Serrano (72′ Muniain), Santhet (72′ Vialiambre), Raul Gia (64)
ESPANIOL: Lopeth, Hill, Gomez (63′ Lopeth), Canberra, Pedrosa, Morlanes (75′ Herrera), Darder, Melento (63′ Barba), Poitou, Filena (75′ Wu), Dimata (64′ Idiot)

Atletico 1-0 Sevilla: Llorente sends them into 3rd place ahead of Barcelona
Marcos Llorente scored the only goal in Atletico’s injury-time win over Sevilla, lifting them to third place in La Liga, ahead of Barcelona.
Atletico defeated Sevilla with 1:0 in their procrastination game 4th matchday and overtook Barcelona for 3rd place in the La Liga standings.
The Rojiblancos were superior for most of the game, but in the first half the visitors managed to keep a clean sheet. However, at the start of the second period, Marcos Llorente, one of Diego Simeone’s two half-time substitutes, scored the first goal.
Another change almost made the difference when Caglar Seyunjiu came on in the 66th minute and was sent off four minutes later with a straight red card.
Quique Sanchez Flores’ men failed to threaten against ten opponents and Atlético picked up an important win before half-time.

Real Madrid have 20-year-old Robert Renan on their shortlist for central defense
Real Madrid have suffered a major blow to their central defense due to injuries and one of the things they have on their list ahead of January is the loan of 20-year-old Brazilian central defender Robert Renan from Zenit.
After the serious injuries to David Alaba and Ender Militao, Real Madrid have entered the transfer market to sign a central defender.
One of the cases that the Merengues are considering, according to AS, is 20-year-old Brazilian central defender Robert Renan, who plays for Zenit St. Petersburg. Madrid initially wants to bring him in with a loan and a purchase option for next summer.
The young footballer is exactly the right person to strengthen the Merengues as he is left-footed and can develop into a very good footballer. This particular formula would also satisfy Zenit, but there is a non-football problem.
Groups linked to the Russian state continue to face sanctions from the European Union (and the US) over the military invasion of Ukraine. Specifically, teams cannot receive an amount over 108,000 euros.
Zenit is owned by Gazprom, one of the most famous oil companies (in the world) controlled by the Russian state.

Barcelona is threatened with exclusion from the new Champions League because of FFP
According to the German newspaper “Die Welt”, Barcelona is threatened with exclusion from the new Champions League due to violations of Financial Fair Play. However, the Catalans are not aware of the specific risk.
A few hours after the legal recognition before the Court of Justice of the European Union of the European Super League, a project that Barcelona and Real Madrid have “operated” from the beginning until today, the Blaugrana are in adventure.
A publication by German newspaper Die Welt reports that the Catalans are at risk of being banned from the new Champions League (for up to three years) due to Financial Fair Play violations. Barcelona announced gigantic profits (a whopping 304 million euros), but according to the report, UEFA will audit the finances as the income must only come from “football activities”.
Barcelona reported on its balance sheet revenue from “Barca Studios”, the project that manages the team’s audiovisual material, such as the team’s official channel (Barca TV).
Sources in Barcelona management told Mundo Deportivo that they were unaware of the scenario in question.
