La Liga
Real 1-1 Osasuna: First defeat for the champions who remain with Barcelona
Real’s positive start was shattered after nine games when Osasuna ended in their tenth in all competitions at the Santiago Bernabeu for La Liga in a 1-1 draw.
Real started the season 9/9 in all competitions but the winning streak ended with the welcome Osasuna at the “Santiago Bernabeu” for the 7th round of La Liga. That 1-1 It came amid several protests and left the champions with Barcelona at the top of the table.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men had the upper hand throughout the game but their chances oddly turned into goals. Vinicius crossed from left to right, the ball went through everyone and landed in the net. The visitors protested for offside but the referee and VAR ruled that the exposed ‘meringues’ did not affect the situation.
Early in the second half, a header from Quique García ended in Andriy Lunin’s goal for a stunning equaliser. However, nothing changed in the picture of the game, the hosts missed chances.
In the 79th minute, Quique Garcia brought down Karim Benzema (on his return from injury) outside the box, he was sent off (via VAR decisions) but the Frenchman sent the penalty off the bar. Benzema soon sent the ball into the net after a couple of tackles, but this time VAR ruled in favor of the visitors, who held on to the 1-1 draw.
