Courtois: ‘When City were crowned top team we looked at each other and laughed’
Thibaut Courtois has commented on Manchester City’s 2022 Team of the Year award and how it made him and the rest of the Real Madrid players laugh in Paris.
The emergence of Manchester City as his Top Team of the Year At the France Football Awards, it surprised many as the European champions were the all-time favourites.
Among the surprises was Thibaut Courtois, who won the “Lev Yashin” award for the best goalkeeper of the year.
In fact, as it turns out, once the best team was announced, the reaction of Real Madrid players was to laugh, considering Madrid won the top of Spain and Europe last season.
“When Manchester City won the Best Club Trophy, we looked at each other and laughed.” characteristically said the Belgian goalkeeper.
