Quique Setien reveals: ‘Barcelona still owe me money’
Quique Setien has recently taken over at Villarreal and in an interview with Meso de España he referred to his time at Barcelona who still owe him money.
Speaking to Spaniard El Laguero, former Barcelona coach Quique Setien referred to his move from the Catalans, which was sealed with a hefty 8-2 defeat by Bayern in the Champions League.
The Spain manager, who was recently hired by Villarreal to replace Unai Emery, said Barcelona still owe him money while he praised the yellow sub for the new chance he was offered.
Among other things, Quique Setien said of his time at Barcelona: “Barca was the team I always dreamed of coaching and when I was there I thought: “I should have done what Camacho did and I should have left.” If there are things that don’t add up, don’t be a hypocrite and walk away. Barcelona still owe me money“.
For Villarreal: “I wasn’t entirely convinced that I would get an opportunity anywhere that might “suit” me. It was a wonderful surprise. Villarreal had a coach who was doing very well and nothing seemed to be happening. I had offers outside, but I didn’t really like it. I could have gone to the US, which is what drew me to the country, but I was surprised when I got the call“.
